The Cherry Bounce is a cocktail steeped in history and hospitality. Some have traced its origins back to the early British settlers arriving on the shores of the Carolina coast in the early 1700’s. This concoction of whiskey, cherries, and sugar is also noted in the memoirs of George and Martha Washington as one of their favorite drinks of the time. Others have claimed that the early statesmen from the newly formed state of North Carolina, charged with determining the location for the new state’s capital would enjoy Cherry Bounce cocktails at Isaac Hunter’s Tavern in Raleigh… hence the location of the state capital.

Like with any story that is told over hundreds of years, the story will often take many directions, but what is common in each is the celebration and hospitality surrounding the enjoyment of this classic Carolina cocktail.
